Drivers Education Program
The Drivers Education Program is a FREE, 5 week program that includes 2 hours of practical and fun activities each week to assist new migrants become familiar with Queensland road rules and to become confident and competent Learner drivers.
An opportunity is provided during the course to sit the written Learner Driver test.
The Program is open to eligible migrants who have never driven before, have an overseas licence, or simply need to build their knowledge and confidence.
With access to a qualified driving instructor, the course includes both theoretical and practical knowledge so that all of the road rules and signs can be and are understood.
Session 1: Introduction of The Neighbourhood Hub, Migrant Settlement Program and an outline of Driver's Education Program.
Session 2: Road rules and signs - Part 1.
Session 3: Fatal 5 - causes of crashes presented by Queensland Police Service (Guest speaker).
Session 4: Road rules and signs - Part 2.
Session 5: Insurance and buying a car and practising the Learner Driver written test.
Session 6: Revision with Department of Transport Road Safety Officer. Sit Learner Driver test. Presentation of certificates for participants.
Guest speakers will present on the following topics:
Fatal 5 causes of crashes.
Buying a car, finance and insurance.
Hazards and dangerous driving conditions.
To pass the course, all sessions must be attended.
Identity documents are required by the Department of Transport and need to be brought or sent in to The Neighbourhood Hub before the course starts.
