Good Beginnings Program

Location > 43 Shakespeare Street Centre

The Neighbourhood Hub’s Good Beginnings Home Based Family Support Program is a universal, free, early intervention service to parents with children and young people under the age of 18 years, living in the Mackay community. Through the support of trained volunteer home visits, the program provides a family support response to families that are experiencing stress.

The broad aim of the program is to assist parents to become more confident in their parenting role as well as providing assistance in establishing strong connections to other parents and local community networks. Practical support may also be provided in such areas as referral, advocacy and information services.

To make a referral the following criteria must be met:

  • There is a child or children unborn to 18 years of age living in the family home.

  • The family would benefit from access to family support intervention and/or referral to support services.

  • The child is not currently in need of ongoing Child Safety intervention.

  • The family consents to the referral.

Please note: Families can self refer to the Program
